We use time-tested methods, and experience, to locate and assess septic systems and diagnose issues. We typically avoid big and expensive equipment that may be damaging to the ground and unnecessary, unless there is a need.
Our typical septic inspections are as simple, inexpensive, and nondestructive to the grounds as they can be, while being as thorough as necessary to assess functionality and identify problems.
We do not use electronic location, or backhoe, unless they are necessary or requested.
We verify the location, distribution, flow, draining function, the state of the drain fields (wet, dry, clean, sludge, etc.), and undertake various other investigations as the need arises, further investigating details of any issues as necessary.

Many things can go wrong with a septic system, including: baffles in need of repair or cleaning, distribution boxes that require maintenance, connecting lines that are broken or clogged, and clogged leaching fields. In many cases there may be viable options that can restore functionality to a system and extend its lifespan without spending tens of thousands of dollars on a new installation or repair.
Even if a few of the above repairs can be done with minimal work and good results, thereby extending the life of the septic system, many inspectors and installers - often the same companies - may recommend a new install without offering less expensive alternatives, even when they are viable.
We are not in the business of selling new septic systems and repairs costing tens of thousands of dollars. We are in the business of helping the customer in the most efficient, least disruptive, and most cost effective way possible.
If you have a problem, it's possible that we may be able to save you many thousands in repair costs, and defer a repair or new install for years.
